About

Kathryn Ruddick grew up in country Tasmania, moving to Melbourne at the end of year 12 to study Fine Art doing a TOP12 Art year and two years at Box Hill TAFE before putting away her brushes and oil paints to get “a real job”.

In her mid 20s, Kathryn discovered rubber art stamps and started a small collection. In 2000 while recovering from a broken spine in a car accident, the rubber stamp art got a work out and over the next few years Kathryn experimented with Art Paper Dolls, Altered Books, Journals, swap cards, altered CD’s and started teaching card making classes. In 2007 Kathryn became a consultant/demonstrator for Stampin’ Up!, a rubber stamp, ink and paper company and has been internationally recognised and rewarded for her achievements, and has presented regularly to groups exceeding 500 attendees. Kathryn has a team of around 55 demonstrators under her and regularly plans papercraft classes, events and retreats.

During all these years Kathryn hasn’t given up sketching, water-colouring, collage and printmaking works, attending art galleries and arts events. In response to a burning hunger to go back to her artistic roots with the oil paints, etching inks, brushes and canvases of her youth and inspired by several overseas trips over the last couple of years, Kathryn stepped outside her comfort zone and had the courage to follow her dreams – enrolling in a fulltime Bachelor of Fine Art – Painting at RMIT University in 2019.

Kathryn moved to the Victorian High Country mid-2022 where she farms berries and garlic and is establishing her art practice near the very artistic Mansfield community.
